"Earth Song" is the third single from Michael Jackson's album History: Past, Present and Future, Book I. This song was the first of a very popular Michael Jacksons theme: the wellbeing of planet earth and its environment. By making use of his popularity, Michael Jackson released numerous songs defending human and animal causes. In particular, Earth Song was responsible for making people aware of how they were treating our world because, what we do, what most of the people do, isnt correct and not today, not us, but our children will suffer the consequences of our acts. In our opinion, Michael Jackson was a person that, at least, tried to change some peoples opinion about making earth a better place for everyone to live. The truth is that he actually reunited a lot of people that believe in him, but the reason why he couldnt ever really change the world, is the same reason why no one will ever do it, because even if there are a lot of people who believe and want to do something about it, more than three quarters of our population dont care. And thats why Earth song was written, to show people what they are doing to our planet, to show them that if we try, all together, we probably can do it. The song shows us that we are not just the ones to suffer the consequences. Every animal will be affected too and we are destroying all that we have got. As we know, Earth Song, was not the only song that Michel Jackson wrote about the environment, the indigenous people, our mistakes and hunger but the reality is that listening to his song is not going to change the world. We have to stop cutting down and burning forests, learning to share what we have got with others, we have to stop wars and be friendly with everyone around us. We can preserve our natural resources if we dont spend them on unnecessary things, if we dont throw away our garbage to wherever we want but instead recycle. There are a lot of things that we know we should do so, lets stop being lazy people because our Earth can become a better place for everyone, for animals, plants and us, human beings. Lets change opinions, lets change attitudes and lets make Earth a better place.
