Family Scenario Project I have developed a family that consists of two adults and three children.

One child is in kindergarten while the other two will be enrolled into a day care while the parents are at work or school. The family is considered low income, since only the father is working. The fathers family is all out of state so there is no actual support except for phone calls and emails. The mothers family lives close by and are there to help every chance they get. I have listed a couple childcare providers in the area and also information about getting assistance for the children that need the care.

All three children are Caucasian American. Quality, Availability, and Cost of Childcare Since the family is considered low income they qualify for the Child Care Development Fund, meaning the childcare will be free to them. This is called the Child Care Voucher Program. The Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) is a federal program that assists lowincome families, families receiving temporary public assistance, and those transitioning from public assistance in obtaining childcare so they can work or continue education. If you would like your information it is listed below. All of these child care facilities have to be state registered and have monthly inspections to make sure they are up to standards.

At the Westminster Presbyterian School they welcome parents to visit the classroom at any time. There is regular, two-way communication with families. They encourage families to share hobbies, and skills with their childs class. Each month there is a special event for guests to attend like Stone Soup or palm-waving. The partnership with our families includes becoming a part of the Indiana Child Care Bureau's Child Care Development Fund or the CCDF voucher program. The program allows families to apply for financial assistance through the state. Child Development Fund: Contact: Andrea Massey, Senior Director amassey@childrensbureau.org 317-545-5281 x373 The Familys Relationship with the Community Amber is very active in the community. WIC provides Federal grants to States for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. I have listed the websites for food stamps, WIC, and also for TANF. TANF is a Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. It is a government program that gives cash assistance to needy families with dependent children, and to pregnant women, to help them meet the basic needs of their children. This cash assistance can be used to help families with housing, utilities, and clothing costs. TANF Information: http://www.in.gov/fssa/dfr/2684.htm

She knows how to work a computer and even the new android phones that have recently came out. All three children are Caucasian American. Their home This families home consist of a 2 bedroom, one bath home. It includes a small attic, family room, dining room, kitchen, and laundry room. The family recently just had a fence put up in the back yard. This home is located on the outside of town in a housing addition. The Fire The fire started when no one was home. There is an active investigation that is going on to see how and where the fire started. The family has lost everything and currently has nothing and has nowhere to go. The family does have home owners insurance and the insurance company is going to be doing a claim to see how much the family can receive for the damages.

Resources The fire department has contacted American Red Cross to see how they can help the family. American Red Cross is willing to put the family in an area hotel and give them a debit card that has money on it for food and clothing. The fire department and police department also have money jars and boxes set around area businesses for donations for the family. Ambers family has offered the family a place to stay and some extra money to help the family out. The Salvation Army has also given the family information to come and get things that they have in stock that the family may need. How the Family is dealing with the Fire The family is taking the fire hard. They have invested so much into their home and with three little children it is hard for them to spend money on anything else, especially with only the father working. The community has come together to help the family and the insurance company is working hard to get their home repaired.

Scenario 5 Abstract I have developed a family that consists of two adults and three children. One child is in kindergarten while the other two will be enrolled into a day care while the parents are at work or school. The family is considered low income, since only the father is working. I also included information about a celebration that the family is going through.

Celebration Personal Information about the Family The family I created consists of five people total. The name of the father/husband is Fred. Fred is a 31 year old high school graduate. He is Caucasian American. Fred works as a home health care assistant for disabled adults. He is a middle class education and a low income worker. The name of the mother/wife is Amber. Kaylee being 5 years old, Destiny being 3 (preschool/head start), and Thomas being 2 (child care). Kaylee is a very smart child and is in Kindergarten. Destiny will be attending preschool/head start and then will attend child care after. Thomas will be attending childcare while Fred is at work and Amber is at college. All three children are Caucasian American. First Celebration The first celebration that this family is going through is the mother, Amber, has graduated from college. It took her longer than expected since she has been a stay at home mother for so long and the fact that she has three children to take care of while her husband, Fred, is the only one that is working. Amber graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with a 3.7 grade point average. Amber is currently putting in resumes to work as a Registered Nurse. I have listed some of the websites that will help with putting in her resume. www.snagajob.com www.careerbuilder.com

http://www.mariongeneral.com/job-opportunities.php www.indianacareerconnect.com Second Celebration The second celebration is that Fred received a promotion and a raise. Fred has gone above and beyond in his job that his manager decided that he needed to become a supervisor and received a raise in the process. Fred currently works with disabled adults and loves his job. How these celebrations will help the family With Amber graduating college she is going to be able to bring in more money for the family. They will be able to have more things that are needed and be able to take care of things that they have put off in the past due to Fred being the only one working. They will also be able to stop borrowing money from the family. With Fred getting his promotion and a new position will also help the family out financially. What will change in the family? The changes that will occur in the family are that the children will have to go to daycare more and they may possibly lose their food stamps. The family does not seem to be worried about this much because Amber finally got her dream of becoming a nurse and both she and Fred have received better pay that will allow the family to do a lot more and be able to live a better life financially. I have listed some daycares that the children will be able to go to while the parents are at work.
