Title:The effects of Aspirin on flower growth

Purpose/Problem: We are trying to figure out if the flower is going to live because we used Aspirin. Hypothesis: If the flower with the aspirin lives longer than the controlled flower, than people should use aspirin with their flowers if they want them to live longer. Materials: 2 other partners 2 flowers 6 Aspirin tablets Data table 2 cups half full of water Mortar & pestle Scissors Producers: 1. Get 2 flowers and cut half of the ends off of them. 2. Get out 6 pills of Aspirin and take the mortar and pestle to break the pills 3. Take one flower and put it into one cup and pour in the smashed pills into the same cup 4. Take the other flower and put it into the cup WITHOUT the aspirin. 5. Place both cups on a countertop, next to each other 6. Each of us will keep data everyday on the flower and to see changes 7. Find out what the data is and put in the number, 10 looking healthy, 0 pedals falling off. Observation/Data:

The controlled and experimented flower both looked the same on day 7. On the graph, you can see

how the blue line represented the controlled flower which stayed more alive. The purple line represents the experimented flower which my partners and i thought was going to live longer. On the y-axis we titled it Perceived health to show on a scale from 1-10 how the flowers look and on the x-axis we titled it days to show how long the flowers last. Our hypothesis was proven wrong because the controlled flower lived long.

Conclusion: In this experiment, my partners and me got 2 flowers and had to put one flower in a cup of water and the other one in a cup of water with 6 smashed, pills of aspirin. We let the flowers sit on the table counter for one week to show how the flowers would change. On the 3rd day the experimented flower started to lean over and looked weaker. In our hypothesis, we thought that the flower with the aspirin would live longer than the other flower which was controlled. As days went by we saw that our hypothesis is being proven wrong. The flower without the aspirin looked more healthy, my partners and me were all surprised. I honestly thought that aspirin would help the flower but it didnt which makes me think what else couldve my group used to actually have the flower live longer?. We talked about my question and honestly we really just thought sunlight and change the water everyday few days. A lot of people in this world dont give their flowers enough sunlight or water so thats why their flowers die within a couple of days. This experiment showed that flowers should have plenty of sunlight and should have their water changed at least every few days(2-3) so the flowers can stay healthy and look beautiful.
