Child Case Study

Interviews:
ParentAysia is a 4 year and 8 month old girl. She is the younger of two children by 9 years and 2months. Aysia was born 3 weeks early. Prior to her birth, the doctors stated she would be a preemie. She was delivered by a schedule C-Section at Reston Hospital Center, Reston, Va. Aysia was born at the average weight of 7lbs and 6oz., 19 inches long. Aysia began to speak her first words at the age of 9 months. She could climb up and down stairs using opposite foot for each step. By the age of 1, it was easily noticed that she was a lefty. Aysia is a very independent young lady that has a hard-time adjusting to sudden change. She has displayed some behavior concerns that have impact her at home and school day. She continues to struggle with cleaning up after herself. Aysia has great fine-motor and cognitive skills. She continues to need support and verbal reminders about writing left to right. On the other hand, Aysia is very creative and has a great sense of humor.

TeacherAyisa enjoys going to school each day. She adjusts very well each morning. Aysia is always eager to help others. She loves to smile and has great sense of humor. Her self-help skills are amazing. Aysia continues to need adult guidance with cleaning up after herself and her discipline (social/emotional). She has a hard time following the direction of one of the teachers. If things dont go her way, she becomes upset by folding arms, talking back or shutting down. She seems to do better with the assistance of an adult. We here at CMS continue to support these areas of development. We have seen some improvement over the last few weeks.
