PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

APRIL 27, 2014

BAND PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS KEEP MUSICAL YOUTH BUSY AND MOTIVATED NON-PROFITS FUND FREE OR SLIDING FEE SCALE YOUTH BAND ENROLLMENTS Salt Lake City, UT According to a December 2013 Biannual Report to the non-profit Utah Arts Alliance (UAA), 13% of youth enrolled in the MusicGarage.Org after-school band program received scholarship awards in 2013. The report also stated that MusicGarage.Org participants enroll at age 15 (it lowered in 2014 to 13 years) and that the average member stays in the program for 29 months. When Jeffrey Zitting, a parent of two boys enrolled in the band program learned that founder Steve Auerbach had sponsored all scholarships from 2009-2012 from his part-time jobs driving taxi and substitute teaching, Zitting offered to have his company, Primary Residential Mortgage seed the scholarship program for 2013 with start-up funds. Since then, the scholarship program has received funding from Microsoft Gives, BMW Financial Services, local bands, producers and musicians including bassist Hugh McDonald of Bon Jovi whose stepson was in the program in 2010. Now in 2014, Mountain Town Music (MTM) another non-profit organization - a provider of free concerts in Summit and Wasatch County is sponsoring five scholarships for Summit Countys musical youth to train with MusicGarage.Org as MTMs house band to play Summit and Wasatch County venues where MTM does music programming. Unlike music schools where a handful of music teachers are typically profited from, MusicGarage.Org supports music teachers in the community as an add-on recital service for as low as $12.50 per week. The program offers music teachers increased student retention while eliminating the need/hassle for teachers to organize recitals. MusicGarage.Org also reports to and coordinates with private lessons teachers. MusicGarage.Org will launch an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign on May 5 with a promotional launch at the City Weekly Best of Utah 2014 Awards Party where MusicGarage.Org will be honored with a Best of Utah award. There will be a e-kiosk on site where guests can donate. Individuals or businesses who want to mail a tax-deductible contribution to the UAA/MusicGarage.Org Scholarship Program can do so by check payable to UAA/MusicGarage.Org, 663 West 100 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84104 or use the PayPal link at http://www.musicgarage.org/#!donate-volunteer/c70d Contacts: Derek Dyer, Executive Director at Utah Arts Alliance, derek@utaharts.org Brian Richards, Executive Director at Mountain Town Music, mountaintownmusic@gmail.com Jeff Zitting, Primary Residential Mortgage, jeffzitting@gmail.com Steve Auerbach, MusicGarage.Org, steve@musicgarage.org
