 Information and communication
technology (ICT) is the technology required
for information processing, in particular,
the use of electronic computers,
communication device and software
applications to convert, store, protect,
process, transmit and retrieve information
from anywhere, anytime.
Evolution of computer
 The early years
 First generation computers
 Second generation computers
 Third generation computers
 Fourth generation computers
 Fifth generation computers
The early years
 In the early, before the computer was
invented, there were several inventions
of counting machines.
 In 200b.c, the abacus was used in china
as the first counting machine.
 In 1617, John Napier invented what
become known as Napier's rods or bone.
 It can used to multiply large number by
manipulating rods.
Cont..
 In 1642, Blaise Pascal built a calculating
machine that could add and subtract.
 This machine is called the pascaline
 Baron Gottfried Wilhelm Von Leibniz
invented a device which used the first
binary mathematic calculation machine
in 1673. it was called the Stepped
Reckoner.
Cont..
 In 1804, Joseph Marie Jacquard invented
jacquard loom that using punch card
technology.
 In 1823, Charles Babbage invented the
mechanical calculator machine that
called Babbage’s analytical engine.
 The first computer known as Mark 1 was
built in Harvard in 1941.
