Preparation (What do you need to do beforehand?): Put the pictures of the frog on one dice Place the frogs and dice on the table A paper pond with lily pads at the childrens place setting
Procedures (step by step) Be Specific
*Beginning (How will I introduce activity?)
Boys and girls in the next activity we will be playing a dice rolling game you will roll the dice and pick up the different colored frogs.
I will introduce the activity at the table. The materials will be on the table every 4 children will get a pair of dice and the frogs and flies.
The children will need to know how to roll dice.
The only safety concern is making sure the children do not swallow the flies.
Okay boys and girls you ready to count some frogs and flies?
*Middle: (How will I support/enhance/scaffold?) The person reading your lesson plan should be able to identify what you are saying or doing to support your stated learning objectives. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
How many frogs do you have? How many flies do you have? Lets count together How many flies does each of your frogs have? Do you have more frogs then flies? What color are your frogs? Are they all the same color? How many colors are there? Is there a lot of colors? Does anyone have the same number as you? Lets count together to get the right number of frogs and flies Whats your favorite color frog? Are all the lily pads in your pond full of frogs? Are your frogs spotted like in our circle time song? I will also have crayons and markers on the table for the children
*End: (How will I bring activity to conclusion and transition to next activity?) Boys and girls this activity will be ending in 5 minutes so lets make sure we get in our last rolls and see if you can count all the frogs then all the flies
Remember to write how many frogs and flies you got on your mat Lets put the frogs back into the colored buckets so that we can play at another time lets see if we can count all the frogs.
Now we will be going to work time think about where you would like to go and lets talk about it
After we have talked
Now boys and girls lets eat some bugs like a frog would on our way to our next activity.
*Throughout the day/week, what opportunities will the children have to reflect back on this activity?
The children will reflect on this activity at the end of the day at circle time They will also reflect when we use the frog mats at snack time.
