SAFETY PRECAUTION WHILE DRILLING

1. Always use a correct size drill.

2. Always maintain the cutting speed within the permissible range.
3. Ensure that the drill shank and tang carry no burrs.
4. Also ensure that the edges of drill drift are free of burrs.
5. Select the proper tool material-high carbon steel, high speed steel, carbide
that will suit the hardness of the work material.
6. Ensure that the work-piece is properly supported before starting the
operation.
7. Always stop the drill machine before engaging the power feed on a gear
head machine.
8. Ensure that the chips continue to flow out of the drilled hole in order to
avoid drill clogging, excess heat generation and possible breakage of drill.
9. Take special care in regarding a drill to ensure that prescribed drill geometry
is correctly stored.
