Thats The Way
Thats The Way is an acoustic
song
by rock band Led Zeppelin from
their third album, Led Zeppelin III,
and is, by far, one of their most
gentle and mellow compositions.
Our production team decided to
choose this song and create a
music video because the song
itself conveys a variety of topics to
the
listener. Topics such as:
Gun Control and Public
Security
Media Impact On Society/
Behaviors
Obscenity Issues
Male Gender Identity Issues
Language Usage Issues
Cross Dressing/ Drag
Identity Issues and
Challenges
Internets Impact on Dating/
Romantic Interaction
Virtual Realitys Impact on
Personal Expression
Internets Impact on
Personal Privacy
Cyber Bullying Issues &
Expressions of Anonymity
Outrage
All of these topics can be easily
incorporated for our music video.
This song slows the listener to
have a different perception of the
songs meaning and further
expand their imagination.

Actors
The main actors that we chose for the
music video are Elijah Wood and
Macaulay Culkin, when they were
children though. We choose these
two actors because they had to fit the
description of looking like a twelve
year olds. The young boy will be
played by Elijah
Wood, while the
homosexual boy will
be Macaulay Culkin.
The actor who will
play as the mother of
the young boy will be
portrayed by Sandra

4
We decided it was best if we used
clothes, hairstyle, and makeup
usage from the early 70s. I
choose this period in time
because that was the time when
many homosexuals were starting
to embrace their gender identity
and come out of the closet, as
they say, and there was more male
with male couples to be seen
through out society. However,
with this drastic change in society
came many struggles for the
homosexual community.
Homosexuals were shunned,
ignored, and oppressed by
society.

The Making
I don't know how I'm gonna tell you Open shot with 12 year
old boy looking out the window to see his friend walking down
the sidewalk. His friend appears to be gazing down at the floor
with a distraught look on his face, you also see a group of
people staring and whispering.

I can't play with you no more Back flash to the 12 year boys
mother telling him not to see his friend anymore. The boy
argues with his mother but she is stubborn and stops the
conversation. The next scene the friend comes to the door
only to have the mother tell him to go away. The friend was
there to walk with the 12 year old to school.

I don't know how I'm gonna do what mama told me, Same
scene
the boy sees his mother telling the boy to go away and he
sneaks out
of his home to go to his friend. But his friend doesnt seem to
want to
talk and leaves the 12 year old in a hurry.
My friend, the boy next door. Same scene the boy next door
(12 year olds friend) is running away from his friend with
what appears to be with tears running down his face. Close
up on 12 year old with a sad expression on his face
I can't believe what people saying, The boy next door is
walking down the road and all the people around him stare
at him with menacing eyes, or throwing him disgusting
looks. The B.N.D (boy next door) looks to be concerned with
his physical safety.

7
You're gonna let your hair hang down The B.N.D
arrives at a small pond in the middle of a forest.
There hes expression changes to one of peace and
removes his hat to set free his long flowing hair.
I'm satisfied to sit here working all day long, Cuts
back to the 12 year old boy waiting near his school
looking at the direction the B.N.D walk. The sun is
setting in this shot to tell time has passed but still
he doesnt look like leaving.
You're in the darker side of town. The B.N.D is
walking in the shadows the setting sun causes in the
town. With his hat back on and a look of sadness on
his face.
And when I'm out I see you walking, The 12 year
old is walking with his mom in a crowd in what
appears to be a parade. There he sees the B.N.D
standing in the distance.
Why don't your eyes see me, The B.N.D doesnt
seem to want to be join the festivities and is
avoiding looking his friend in the face. The B.N.D
knows if he goes to the parade the towns folk will
harass him, call him names and throw stuff at him.
He walks away from the parade.
Could it be you've found another game to play,
Same day the B.N.D is now home on the computer
talking on a social media website to another boy.
The worlds they exchange are flirtations and the
B.N.D laughs and has a happy expression.
What did mama say to me. Back with the 12 year
old and his mom at the parade. The 12 year old
looks around and sees happy faces, wondering how
people are happy while continuing to be cruel.

8
That's the way, oh, New day and the B.N.D is talking
with the guy online again. The online guy tells him that
he wants to see him and that they should meet.
That's the way it ought to be, The B.N.D agrees and
they set up a day to meet.
Yeah, yeah, mama say The next day the B.N.D is all
dressed up waiting for the guy at the entrance of a fair.
There he sees a group of boys from his school walking
towards him That's the way it ought to stay. The group
of boys tease the B.N.D calling him fag and other hurt
full words. Then ones pushes him to the floor and they
all proceed to beat him up.

And yesterday I saw you standing by the river,
Next day the 12 year old is walking in the forest
and stubbles across the B.N.D sitting by the lake.
And weren't those tears that filled your eyes,
The 12 year old sees his friend crying with a
bruised face and a black eye. The boy the
approaches his friend but the shot cuts away as
he walks toward him.
And all the fish that lay in dirty water dying,
Then it cuts to the B.N.D staring into the lake
and you see dead fish, and his reflection makes
it look like he is there laying with the dead fish.
Had they got you hypnotized? Then there a look
comes over the B.N.D face knowing how to end
his suffering. Then in another scene on a
different day you see the B.N.D go into a drawer
and take his family gun.

9
And yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers, Next day the boy is
back setting next to the lake. He picks up flowers and kisses them
then places them down almost like for a tombstone.
But all that lives is born to die. Then the boy stands over the lake
staring into the water, the shot focuses on his hand and sees him
clench the gun. Then the shot goes up looking at the trees
covering the boy and once the shot is fired you see the birds fly
away and scatter. Then you see the B.N.D face in the water for one
last time.
And so I say to you that nothing really matters, The next
scene is another flash back to when the 12 year old boy
started walking to his friend while he was crying with a
bruised face. You see him telling him to not care about
what over people say about him even though he doesnt
know the true reason for his friends sadness.
And all you do is stand and cry. The B.N.D tells him he
doesnt know what hes going through and tells him to
leave all while he is crying hysterically. The 12 year old
sees there is no getting through to him and proceeds to
follow his friends instructions to leave him alone
I don't know what to say about it, The next scene which is a
couple of days later at the funeral of the B.N.D. The 12 year old
boy is standing without his mother crying, looking around seeing
not that many people.
When all you ears have turned away , As the casket is lowered
the mother clutches her two other children and turns her gaze
away from the casket crying hysterically.
But now's the time to look and look again at what you see, The
funeral has ended and the 12 year old boy looks back at his
friends tombstone one last time then he turn his attention to the
town who carry on with their lives without a care in the world.

Is that the way it ought to stay? The shot then changes to a close up of the B.N.D grave and the flowers
placed on his grave appear to be the same kind he placed down by the river. In the distance you can see
his family getting into a car and drive off, now the funeral is completely empty.
That's the way... The 12 year old boy is walking home reminiscing about his late friend.
That's the way it oughtta be He turn to the school and sees the place where they first meet years ago at a
young age
Oh don't you know now, mama said.. When he looks at his house a memory of him playing with hes
friend occurs. You see the two of them playing in the front yard and his mom comes out carrying snacks
for the two of them. You see just how nice his mother was to his friend before she found out the truth
about him.
That's the way it's gonna stay, yeah. Then the boy walks up the stairs and gets ready for bed. He looks
out his window to the same spot where the video first opened. He sees nothing now but a group of people
laughing in the distance.
