Management The 5200 Trivector Analyzer is a multi-functional analyzer that is uniquely able to detect most lubricant related problems in gears, pumps, compressors, turbines, engines, hydraulics, and process machinery. The Trivector Analyzer measures chemistry changes by comparing the dielectric of new and used oil samples. It improves on Emersons patented method of ferrous/non-ferrous separation through increased sensitivity to small particles. The 5200 adds laser particle counting with a patent pending method of delivering sample fluid that decreases the chances of missing larger particles as they settle. Wear debris analysis is made faster and easier with the ability to isolate ferrous, non- ferrous, large and small particles onto separate filter patches The Trivector Analyzers multiple testing functions are controlled by buttons and a valve on the face of the instrument and software loaded onto a desktop PC. The user is prompted by color coded LEDs and onscreen instructions each step of the way through the test sequence. This effectively eliminates any possibility of skipping a step. The test sequence takes about eight minutes. At the end of each test, the fluid is neatly pulled into a waste container by a vacuum pump and the computer records the data. Extra pure lamp oil (basically clean low-odor kerosene) is inexpensive, widely available, and works well for most samples. Heptane or hexane is recommended for use when making filter patches, but mineral spirits may also be used. Isopropyl alcohol may be added to any of these to help deal with water contamination for test '3' and for making filter patches Outputs Trivector plot summarizes wear, chemistry and contamination alarm status both in the software and on the face of the instrument with colored LED's Chemistry: n Chemistry Index - Lube degradation n Dielectric - Absolute measurement of dielectric Contamination: n Contamination index - Water and gross particle contamination n Large non-ferrous indications - Non-ferrous particles >> 60 microns n Droplet indications - Free water droplets or other corrosive fluid droplets Estimated water content: n Percent total water content of the sample Particle Count: n ISO 4406 and NAS 1638 Cleanliness Codes n Number of particles >2 m, >5 m, >10 m, > 15 m, > 25 m, > 50 m, >75 m, and > 100 m Machine Wear: n Ferrous Index - Ferrous particles > 5 microns n Large ferrous indication - Ferrous particles >> 60 microns Wear Debris Analysis Filter Patches: n Large Ferrous Particles n Small Ferrous Particles n Large Non-ferrous Particles n Small Non-ferrous Particles Page 3 Machinery Health
