Determination of The Ionization Constant of a Weak Acid
Omari McDuffey 3/24/2014
Purpose The purpose of this experiment was to determine the ionization constant and molecular weight of an unknown acid
Summary For the Determination of The Ionization Constant of a Weak Acid , I received many different readings, for the first trial we had to weighted out as close to .4 grams as we could of the KHP and we got several different molarities for each like.1009 ,.1309 and .0974. our readings were a little low so when we tried to calculate the molarity against 22 grams of NaOH we recied4.8 grams. After which we used to titrate and received a molecular weight of 197.25 for our unknown acid. Errors that could have been made in our experiment could have been putting too many grams of our unknown acid in the titrate which could lead to really skewed numbers
