~John Quincy Adams Page 4 Blue Devil Times Why do you call me black? By Mrs. Odom
Why do you call me black? Is it my big lips, My kinky hair? Is it the curve of my hips, Or my angry stare?
Why do you call me black? Is it the way I speak, My Ebonics and slang? Is it my neighborhood, That my culture has yet Still to claim? Jealousy By Michael Mason
Jealousy takes the form of the red demon him- self. Sounds like a guy sucking in the air as he watches someone steals the girl he loves. Tastes like a cold rusty iron blade in your mouth. Smells like angry sweat. Looks like a person stabbing you and pushing you to the side. Makes you feel depressed. Biography Dr. Umar Johnson is a Certi- fied School Psychologist. He practices privately through- out Pennsylvania and lec- tures throughout the country.
Making a Change On February 5, 2014, while here at NDHS, Dr. Umar delivered a message to pre- pare for the future, achieve greatness and be empow- ered. He encouraged stu- dents to complete their goals and improve in school. A Morning With The Doctor! Artwork by Diondre Mathis Dont think about making art. Just get it done. Let other people decide if its good or bad. And while theyre deciding, make even more art. -Andy Warhol Whatever your reason, I have my own.
I call myself black. Because of my power, Because of my strength, Both inner and outer. Because of my ancestors, Who fought with pride. Because of their willingness To die. For me, for you.
I call myself black because I am the epitome of envy I am a Strong, Educated, Black Woman!! NDHS Principal McWilliams is pictured with Dr. Umar Johnson and assistant after an inspirational speech.
