JOB OVERVIEW
They design a vast variety of buildings such as;
houses, stores, apartments, etc. They also watch
over the construction of their designs to make sure
everything is built the way they want it.
CIVIL ENGINEER SALARY
Architect salaries start off at $40,000 a year and can
reach up to $90,000 a year. If you are self-employed
you can make a lot more money, but it depends on
how successful your business is.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The hours of an architect are the same as most jobs,
regularly 40 hours a week, normally the regular time
of day, indoors when making designs and outside
when directing the construction of the designs you
made.
THE DEMAND
No, because a lot of people are taking interest in
architecture as a career.
POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION
Im going to get a bachelors degree in applied
sciences and Ill be attending UBC-Okanagan
because it is the closest school to my house and I
dont want to have to pay rent while going to
school, and this way I can stay at home while
attending school. UBC Vancouver, Im interested in
this school because its the closest university that
has the course Im wanting to enroll in.
TUITION, FEES AND TEXT BOOKS
4 years of civil engineering at UBCO is
approximately $32,117.40 then I need to go to UBC
in Vancouver and get a Masters Degree in
Architecture which is approximately $10,970.30 for
first year and $43,881.20 for 4 years
PRE-REQUISITES
In order to get into this course at this school, Id
need to take: English 12, Physics 12, Chemistry 12,
Pre-Calculus 12 or Calculus 12. Not only would I
have to do that Id need to pass the classes with
course averages in percentage from the high 70s
to the low 80s minimum. I need to get a bachelors
degree in Civil Engineering too, in order to take this
course.
WHY CIVIL ENGINEERING?
Ive been interested in this course for a long time
now because I find a large amount of joy in
designing buildings. I can sit down for hours drawing
and coming up with different things to create using
my imagination.
3 RELATED OCCUPATIONS
Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, and
Environmental studies. If I didnt end up doing this
career or my plan A career, Id probably become a
police officer because my father is a police officer
and Ive always wanted to be like my dad since I
was 4 or 5 years of age, hes a great role model.
