Jennifer Conover Observation Two 2-28-14

1. 2-20-14 While eating snack at the circle table Grace ran out of water, she got up walked
to the sink, unscrewed the lid from her water bottle and filled it. She returned to her seat
and continued eating snack with her classmates.

2. 2-24-14 During small group with Miss. Rachelle, Grace had four clear cups of cotton
balls. Grace placed the cup with only one cotton ball in it to the left, then she grabbed the
next cup and counted ten cotton balls inside of the cup, she placed this cup on the right.
The third cup she counted only had five cotton balls she placed this cup on the right of
the first cup with one cotton ball but before the cup with ten cotton balls. The fourth and
final cup Grace counted only had eight cotton balls. This cup she placed in between the
cup that had five and the cup that had ten. Grace looked up at Miss Rachelle and said
while pointing to each cup in her line, This cup has one it is the smallest, this cup has
five it is the next bigger one, this cup had eight, it is more than five, and the last cup has
ten. It is the biggest out of all of them.

3. 2-25-14 During gym Grace and her friend Megan raced between two cones in the middle
of the gym floor. They took off from the first cone when Megan would count to three,
when they reached the second cone they would tap it on top and run back to the finish
line.

4. 2-27-14 While playing with the Legos in the fine motor area, Grace noticed that while
all of the Lego People have heads only some of them have hair. Just like my daddys
friends, she said.

5. 2-20-14 When Grace came in the classroom she hung up her jacket and put her backpack
away. She walked over to the choices board with her photo, she said, first I will play
with the blocks in the block area, then I will go and color in the art area. She placed her
photo under the block header and started to get out her breakfast.

6. 2-21-14 During circle time Grace was marching while listening to music and holding a
short ribbon stick. Every time she heard the beat she would swirl the ribbon in big circle
over her heard. I look like a spinning top she said.

7. 2-18-14 During small group time, Grace was working with another classmate on pouring
red water and blue water into the same jar to see what color it would make. Grace and
Mike both wanted to be in charge of pouring both liquids. After Grace said, I want to do
blue because blue is my mommys favorite Mike responded by saying, Well, I wanted
to do red because it is my favorite color. Grace looked down at the jars and she said,
Well if you want red, then do red and then I can do blue, because there are two cups of
water and two of us. Mike smiled at Grace and said, Yes, okay!

8. 2-19-14 A new student joined Graces class. His name is Juan, Grace approached Juan
with two race cars. She asked him which car he wanted to be for the race that she and a
few other students were putting together. Juan smiled and picked the green and red car
from Graces hand. They smiled and ran over to the car area together to put their cars at
the starting line.

9. 2-28-14 Grace was at the art area using markers with another girl. They had set up two of
their Webkins in front of them and they were hugging they said. Grace said to Molly
I am going to draw them swimming together. and Molly replied, Oh I wish I could go
swimming but it is too cold!

10. 2-26-14 During free choice Grace was in the dramatic play area, she was wearing a large
floppy hat and a big frilly skirt. She had a purple handbag over her shoulder and she was
looking over some pretend food that was in a bin. Out loud she said, What do I want to
make my husband for dinner tonight? she picked up a big wooden stake and some green
peppers. Daddys love stake and vegetables are important to have too. She put them in
her hand bag and walked back towards the corner that she called home.

11. 3-3-14 During free choice Grace was at the small round table making jewelry with
pink and orange play dough. She said, Look Ms. Rachelle, I am going to make you a
bracelet! First I put pink, then orange, then pink, then orange again. Ms.Rachelle
replied, Thank you Grace, that is so kind of you! I like the pattern you chose.

12. 2-24-14 It was time to clean up before snack and Grace helped her classmates put away
toys and start to set up the cups and plates for snack.

13. 3-4-14 Sitting in the cozy corner with her friends, Grace was listening to Ms. Sheena
read Sneeches by Dr.Seuss. She laughed at the silly words and funny pictures.

14. 2-26-14 During small group wrap up, Grace had drawn a picture of the colored blocks
and cup she used to see how many blocks could fit in the cup. First, I started with the
red blocks, there were six of them, and then I used green-there were four of them. And
then I only could fit one yellow block at the top. She told Ms. Sheena, while Sheena
wrote down what she said.

15. 2-25-14 Grace had just walked out of the gym with her friends. She giggled while telling
Joseph, I liked the part where we hopped up and down like the ball does when we
bounce it up high. You can jump higher than I can but I jumped further than you did that
one time.
