The word motivation can be traced to the


Latin word movere, which means to
move.

Motivation is a process that starts with a
physiological or psychological deficiency or
need that activates a behavior or a drive that
is aimed at a goal or incentive.

NEEDS DRIVES INCENTIVES
NEED: It is the deficiency experienced by
the individual and is create whenever there
is physiological or psychological imbalance.


Component of motivation
DRIVES:Drives are action-oriented and
provide an energizing thrust towards
reaching an incentive.

INCENTIVES:Incentives are anything
that alleviate a need and reduce a drive.

environment , it determines the
performance of an employee. The
