Unfortunately not. Your room is only available during the language course.

Where will I live? Whats the address?
You can have your personal mail sent to our address. You can then collect it from the course office. If you need an
address for your visa please provide the respective institution with our address:

Help! Im in Freiburg, but my luggage is in Paris!
Usually it does not take long for missing luggage to be delivered to Freiburg. Please provide the airline with our address
(see above) for delivery of your luggage. This will help you to get your luggage as soon as possible.

Hows the weather in Freiburg?
August is usually warm and sunny with temperatures between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. However, you should bring
along some long trousers, proper shoes and a waterproof jacket, because it can be quite cold on rainy days and during
nights. You can access up-to-date weather forecasts at www.wetter.de.

Are there kitchen utensils, linen and bedding, towels and telephones in the student dorms?
In your room you will find linen and bedding. Please bring your own towels. In case that there are pots and dishes in the
kitchen, these normally belong to your flatmates. If you ask politely you will surely be allowed to use them. There are
public phone booths all over the city.

Do I have to prepare my own food?
You can have lunch and dinner for regular student prices in the mensa of the University of Freiburg. One meal is between
1,70 and 3,50 .

Where can I do my laundry?
In most student dorms there are special rooms equipped with washing facilities. The washers and dryers operate with
Waschmarken (special coins), which you can purchase from your Hausmeister (caretaker) during his/her office hours.
Alternatively, you can do your washing at a laundry mat or so-called Waschsalon.

Will I have access to the internet? Will there be access to W-Lan?
You will have internet access and WLAN at the university. There will be no WLAN and no internet available at the student
dorms.

Will I have insurance during the course period?
No. Please purchase medical and accident insurance in your home country before you depart. As you may be responsible
for any damage you may cause e.g. in your dormitory room, we also recommend a public liability insurance.

What means of transportation can be used in Freiburg?
You can purchase a transport pass (Regiokarte) which enables you to use all busses and trams in Freiburg and the
surrounding region for the whole month. More information on prices, network of routes and timetables can be found at
www.vag-freiburg.de. For a reduced transport pass, you need a valid student ID for the university you are currently
enrolled in!

Can I get to know other students before the International Language Courses?
You can find us at www.facebook.com (SLI Sprachlehrinstitut Uni Freiburg). In our group Augustkurse 2013 am SLI
Freiburg you can see who else takes part in the International Language Courses even before classes start, share
experiences and pictures during the course and keep in touch afterwards. In our group Tandempartner suchen & finden
you can get in touch with German speaking students.



Im in Freiburg. What now?
Please come and see us at our course office (Kursbro) in the Alte Universitt, Bertoldstrae 17. There you
will receive your room key and class schedule and further information.

By foot
You will need about 10 to 15 minutes to walk from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) to our course office.
Cross the street in front of the Hauptbahnhof and go straight into Eisenbahnstrae. Turn right at the traffic
light into Rotteckring and turn left at the next traffic light into Bertoldstrae. Turn left into the archway at
Bertoldstrae 17. Pass the Uniseum. Our course office (Kursbro) is located to your left.

By train
From the platform, go straight to the tram station located on the bridge spanning the train station. Take tram
number 1, destination Littenweiler. Tickets (Einzelfahrschein Preisstufe 1, 2.20 ) can be bought at the tram
station or from one of the ticket vending machines inside the tram. Get off after two stops at Bertoldsbrunnen
and walk back about 100 meters, then turn right into the archway at Bertoldstrae 17. Pass the Uniseum. Our
course office (Kursbro) is located to your left.

By car
It is best to park your car in one of the underground car parks and then proceed on foot since cars are not
allowed in the downtown area. The best option is the underground car park on Rotteckring. Go to
Bertoldstrae from there and walk towards Bertoldsbrunnen, passing the bookstore Walthari. After about 400
meters turn left into the archway at Bertoldstrae 17. Pass the Uniseum. Our course office (Kursbro) is
located to your left.
