THOUGHT CONTENT

Several contents were observed on Sybil, thought contents that developed from
escaped emotions produced by multiple traumatic experiences. Previous traumatic
experiences as she grows were revealed and exhibited by her different personalities.
Each personality represented and divulged emotions and frustrations from her
experiences, like Peggy, who first appeared and exhibits anger; Vicky, a confident and
self-assured 13y/o of her; Vanessa, who plays piano; Marsha, who is suicidal and
depressed personality; SID, who admires his father. Religious delusion may be
observed when she/they believed that her mother was treated after praying. Visual
hallucination was shown when she saw her different personalities on mirror. Attempt to
commit suicide (in the personality of Marsha) and hurt others (when she pushed away
Dr. Wilbur and tried to attack her with a knife/scissors) were also shown.
Depersonalization is also evident in the movie.

THOUGHT CLARITY
While the real Sybil was confessing or answering Dr. Wilburs inquiry on her past, you
can see that she is confused and was having difficulty in expressing thoughts. Although
the real Sybil had hesitations or did not bare all her worries, other personalities did.
Some informations given by the real and other personalities were contradictory (like
when the real Sybil was saying that her mother loves her and did not hurt her, while
the other personality was saying that she was maltreated) due to being dissociative and
attempt to escape from her past experiences. Also, clarification was needed due to
vague statements given by Sybil and other personalities. Thoughts were not
sequentially imparted because of suddenly appearing of different personalities.
