MWRDGC has contracted with kenny construction to add an access manhole on to a junction chamber below 1st Ave. The junction chamber serves large sections of the MWRD sanitary interceptor sewer within the Villages of Brookfield and Riverside. The project will involve heavy traffic control and will adversely impact traffic patterns. The work will require relocating several underground utilities before construction of the access manhole can be started.

MWRD PROJECT TO BEGIN MONDAY, JUNE 23 EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS
Kenny Construction Company has been contracted by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC) to add an access manhole on to a junction chamber below 1st Ave. The junction chamber serves large sections of the MWRD sanitary interceptor sewer within the Villages of Brookfield and Riverside. These interceptors receive sanitary sewage flows from the sanitary sewer systems of both municipalities. This project will allow access to the junction chamber. The project will involve heavy traffic control and will adversely impact traffic patterns. The new manhole location will be located just north of the corner of the 1st Ave. and Forest Ave. on the northbound side of the intersection. The two northbound lanes on 1st Ave. will be diverted to one southbound thru lane, a right turn lane and a left turn lane. The south bound traffic will be reduced to one thru lane and one left turn lane. The work will require relocating several underground utilities before construction of the access manhole can be started. We do not anticipate there will be any impact or restrictions on water/sewer usage. HOURS OF OPERATION Typical work hours will be 7AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday. Saturdays are optional. Due to the timeframe of the project the Village of Riverside has granted permission to work round the clock as needed. NOISE DURING OVERNIGHT WORK The municipalities have restrictive construction noise ordinances during non-working hours. However, due to the local and regional importance of this project, special permission was granted provided that reasonable accommodations are taken to limit the noise disruption. We are requesting your patience and cooperation to complete this very important project.
