Hypothesis:
If the 6 different stores, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Converse, American Eagle,
Brandy Melville, and H&Ms bacterias grow, then Urban Outfitters will have the most
bacteria because we know that bacteria grows from the dirtiest places, and the more
visitors there are in the store, the more dirty the place will be which leads the store to
have more bacteria, and through our background research, we found out that the total
visitors in Urban Outfitters is 8,178 which is the most visitors from all the stores that we
chose to research on while we predict that Brandy Melville will have the least bacteria
since from our background research, Brandy Melville total visitors is 2,281, which is the
least visitors from all the stores that we chose to research on.

Materials:

Agar
6 petri dishes
6 Stores
6 Swabs (Q-Tips)
Light from the sun or a lamp
Water
Ziplock bags
Poster Board
Transparency Paper

Procedure
Step 1: Gather all materials.
Step 2: Put agar in each of the 6 petri dishes. (Our kit comes
with agar in the petri dishes.)
Step 3: Pick 6 stores that are very well known.
Step 4: Go to each of the 6 stores. Take a swab/ Q-Tips and put
it in water.
Step 5: Swab the floor with the swabs/ Q-Tips and LIGHTLY
draw a squiggly line in the agar.
Step 6: Close the lid of the petri dishes and label the name of the
store on a piece of paper and tape it on the petri dish.
Step 7: Take a zipper-lock bag or Ziplock bag for each petri dish
and put the petri dish inside the Ziplock bag. Remember: NEVER
OPEN THE ZIPLOCK BAG!

Step 8: Put the petri dishes in a 98 degrees place. We didnt
have a 98 degrees place so we put the petri dishes in a box and
put a tiny lamp over it. The lamp will help the bacterias to grow
since the light from the lamp will make the temperature around
98 degrees. We also put the box outside where the sun is since
the temperature outside is around 98 degrees and the sun will
give heat which will help the bacterias grow.
Step 9: Draw the bacteria that is growing
Step 10: Take data and take pictures of each petri dish
everyday.
