Lesson Title: Conjugating AR Verbs
Lesson Duration: 1 day

Performance Objective: Upon completion of this lesson, the student will be able to look at a subject pronoun, or
combinations, and conjugate AR verbs correctly




Specific Objectives:
Understand the relationship between subject and verb agreement
Be able to look at a subject pronoun, or combination, and conjugate the verb correctly
Be able to read and write a complete sentence using a subject and a verb.

Preparation

Framework Strand:

Content Standard Competencies/Objectives:

MS CCR/CCSS: Reading-1; Writing 4,6; Speaking and Listening 4

Instructional Aids: power point video on conjugation of AR verbs.

Materials Needed: Mac book computers; textbook; paper and pen/pencil

Equipment Needed: adapter for projector, each student will need their computer

Desired Student Prerequisites: knowledge of the subject pronouns and combinations; specific verbs related to
that chapter.

Introduction/Anticipatory Set
Do Now- students should review vocab on Quizlet. I will have a sentence on the projector with infinitives and
the students will rewrite the sentence correctly in English so that it makes sense.
Lesson Outline/Procedures: Instructor Notes:
*Do Now: The students will review vocab on Quizlet before the bell rings.
*Anticipatory set: the students will rewrite the sentences and we will discuss why we
conjugate verbs, what conjugate means, and the importance of subject verb
agreement.
*There is a PowerPoint on conjugating AR verbs

You to play the piano.
Kim and Jon to swim now.


Pause the PowerPoint at the
end to prompt participation.
*Have students go to www.studyspanish.com and take a practice quiz, in groups of 2
or alone reviewing and discussing wrong answers.

Answer any questions & listen
for any points to reinforce.

* Have students, in groups of 3 and write 5 sentences on paper in English using
subject pronouns and the verbs in the chapter. Have students exchange papers and
translate into Spanish the sentences. Turn in when finished. Study notes in
studyspanish website or textbook to prepare for an individual practice quiz
tomorrow

Tarea: Have students write 10 sentences in Spanish using subject pronouns and
combinations with verbs; they should include an English translation.

Guided Practice: As we go through the PowerPoint and as we discuss the answers from the group activities

Independent Practice: Quiz tomorrow and the website activity and the homework
Summary
Lesson Closure: view some sentences overheard in the group session that the students were having trouble with
and put on the projector for the class to correct and explain the correction.
Evaluation
Informal Assessment/Review: While working in groups, I will question any discussion to help the students come
to a decision. (I like the Socratic method of teaching.)
Formal Assessment: The quiz tomorrow-10 sentences in Spanish and they have to conjugate the verb according to
the subject. They must choose any 3 sentences to translate into English.
Lesson Extension
Extension/Enrichment: Play game on Quizlet to prepare for quiz tomorrow when finished.
Accommodations/Differentiation: Roles while working in groups; students can either work alone or in pairs with
the website practice
