The CCR Anchor Standards in Writing

Below are the college and career readiness (CCR) anchor standards in writing for the Common Core State Standards
(CCSS).
Text Types and Purposes*
W.CCR.1: Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid
reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.
W.CCR.2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas and information
clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content.
W.CCR.3: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective techniue,
well-chosen details, and well-structured event seuences.
Production and !istri"ution of Writing
W.CCR.4: Produce clear and coherent #riting in which the development, organization, and style are
appropriate to tas$% purpose% and audience.
W.CCR.5: Develop and strengthen #riting as needed by planning% revising% editing% re#riting% or
trying a ne# approach.
W.CCR.: Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and pu"lish writing and to interact and
colla"orate with others.
Research to &uild and Present 'no#ledge
W.CCR.!: onduct short as well as more sustained research pro(ects based on focused uestions,
demonstrating understanding of the sub!ect under investigation.

Range of Writing
