1. What is a worldview?
A worldview comprises one's collection of beliefs, convictions and values from which a person tries to understand and
make sense out of the world and life.

A worldview is a personal insight about the reality and meaning of life. We all see ourselves through a particular set of
beliefs, attitudes, and values. Each persons worldview develops overtime as he or she experiences new events and
interacts with the world that surrounds them. A worldview provides the answers to ones origin, purpose, and destiny.
Family and values are some of the aspects or elements on a worldview.

b. 2 key aspects youve noticed in the worldviews weve studied:

c. Explain 2 examples from the course where you see those aspects of a worldview being expressed
Example 1: Marjane came from a Nationalist family who doesnt not believed to the goal of the Shah for Iran and that
the Islamic groups are not the best group to govern their country. Therefore, she inherited the belief and values of being
a Nationalist in Iran.

Example 2: At that time, Iranians were not treated equally as they were not seen as good people. To some

extent, other nationalities thought of Iranians as terrorists. It is for this worldview that Marjane, at one point
in her life, denounced her nationality.

Example 1: This example shows that in a persons worldview, family background will always be a part of it. A persons
decision is always brought in by the familys belief, conviction and value.

A person's worldview is affected by many factors, this includes their inherited characteristics, background

experiences and life situations, the values, attitudes, and habits they have developed, and more. These vary
from one person to another. Therefore, even though many people in a community share some parts of a
worldview, other parts differ for individuals.
