The Imperfect Tense

This tense is a descriptive past tense


that can be used to indicate :
An ongoing state of being
An incomplete action
Physical/ Emotional descriptions, (time,
weather, age, feelings)
Etc.


To form the Imparfait, you start with the
nous form of the verb youre using in
the present tense. Well use the Verb
Avoir:


avons
Next, remove the ons! :



av
Now you add the ending, which will
always be one of the endings below!
The only exception is tre, which well
come to later.

Je -ais
Tu -ais
Il/Elle -ait
Nous -ions
Vous -iez
Ils/Elles -aient
Now you put your verb into a
sentence!:


Quand javais sept ans, je voulais tre
chanteuse!
