PLAN OF WORK

BROOKE HURLEY
EA 701

Standard One: Articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision.
Goal: Develop leadership skills and knowledge of the school improvement process.
Activity: (Leadership) I will now chair the School Improvement Team for the 2013-2014
school year. I will plan meetings, develop and implement components, and evaluate the School
Improvement Plan to ensure strategies are improving student achievement in all goal areas.
Timeline: Meetings and planning work will continue throughout the school year.
Support Needed: Release time needed by the school/district for work towards the School
Improvement Plan.

Standard Two: Sustaining a school culture and instructional program.
Goal: To become familiar with the Charlotte Danielson Evaluation Model process and how
it is implemented.
Activity: (Observation/Participation) I will observe and provide input for pre, during, and post
teacher evaluations (with the approval of the teacher).
Timeline: Evaluations will be conducted twice per school year, and 4 times per school year for
probationary teachers.
Support Needed: Release time needed to discuss, observe, and participate in all aspects of the
evaluation process with my mentor.

Goal: Planning and delivery of staff development.
Activity: (Participation/Leadership) I will plan and deliver a staff development in regards to
the current School Improvement Plan. The use of a PowerPoint presentation will be used to
assist the presentation. I will also assist my mentor in the planning and delivery of a staff
development during the school year.
Timeline: The School Improvement Plan presentation will be held in the fall of the 2013-2014
school year. The other staff development will be held during the school year.
Support Needed: Release time for planning and preparation with my mentor.

Standard Three: Management of organization, operations, and resources.
Goal: Development of a master schedule.
Activity: (Observation/Participation) My mentor and I will develop a master schedule for the
2013-2014 school year. This includes at what times during the school day, and the amount of
time each teacher spends on the following content areas: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social
Studies, and gym.
Timeline: August/September of the 2013-2014 school year.
Support Needed: Time needed to meet with my mentor to develop the schedule.

Goal: To review and update school safety, security, and crises procedures.
Activity: (Leadership) At a total of 4 staff meetings during the school year, I will review and
give any updated information that pertains to school safety. Procedures will include lock down
and lock out drills, fire drills, and tornado drills.
Timeline: Staff meeting presentation, every other month, starting in September of 2013.
Support Needed: Timely updated information from the Chief of Security for the District.

Goal: To conduct a total of 2 faculty meetings throughout the school year.
Activity: (Leadership) I will completely plan and conduct a total of 2 staff meetings within the
school year. This will include the compilation and formation of the agendas.
Timeline: One staff meeting in the fall and 1 in the spring.
Support Needed: Input from the Coordinating Council team for items that need to be put on the
agendas for discussion.
Goal: To become familiar with the school budget and bookkeeping.
Activity: (Observation) To review and analyze the school budget and its components, such as
Title I.
Timeline: The budget will be reviewed throughout the school year.
Support Needed: Time needed to discuss budget components with my mentor.




Standard Four: Collaborating with community and responding to diversity.
Goal: Planning and delivery of a parenting course
Goal: Work with community groups
Activity: (Leadership) I will plan and deliver 2 parent courses for the parents who have children
in the autism program. I will include outside volunteer groups such as OU Cares, speech
therapists, and occupational therapists to provide professional input for the courses.
Timeline: The first parent course will be held in the fall and the second in the spring.
Support Needed: Approval from the Special Education Department to have the course and the
approval of a location. Funds to provide dinner for parents.

Standard Five: Acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.
Goal: Application of the Student Code of Conduct.
Activity: (Observation) I will work alongside my mentor when enforcing and applying the
Student Code of Conduct. This may include student discipline and parent meetings. I will discuss
with my mentor the reasons there may be exceptions to the Code of Conduct and reasons for
certain actions.
Timeline: Meetings throughout the school year as situations arise.
Support Needed: Release time to work with my mentor and attend parent/student meetings.

Standard Six: Understanding, responding to and influencing the larger political,
social, economic, legal and cultural context.
Goal: Representation of the school within the community
Activity: (Observation) I will attend Pontiac City council meetings and district school board
meetings as a representative from the school.
Timeline: Monthly meetings throughout the school year.
Support Needed: Release time is needed to attend these meetings if they are scheduled during
the school day.
Standard Seven: Understands and comprehensively applies technology.
Goal: Assessment of current technology and its use for instructional and management
purposes.
Activity: (Observation/Leadership) I will assess what technology teachers are currently using
within the classroom. I will then provide teachers with additional resources they can use to assist
them with their instruction.
Timeline: I will assess technology and provide additional resources on a monthly basis.
Support Needed: Release time needed to assess technology in each teachers classroom.
