What? The Student Council is proposing that the school should incorporate Mandarin, the next world language, into the curriculum, starting as young as class 5 and later spanning up to IB level as time progresses. Mandarin will not be a feasible subject to increment in this years class 8-11s timetables. Mandarin is an essential subject, which is taught extensively throughout Europe, and which will give a competitive edge to any one perusing a career outside of Brazil.
How? Simply add Mandarin as a language subject option, just like Spanish and French. Hire a mandarin teacher, by including the necessity of such a teacher in the British School advertisement space in the classificados section of the Newspaper O Globo.
Where? Any available classroom in either blocks A,B, C or D.
