Generalist Nursing Practice

Ferris State University has specific objectives for the School of Nursing.
One of the objectives contains general nursing practice. General nursing
practice is not oriented to a specific nursing practice but rather a broad spectrum
of medical issues. I have been able to eperience different aspects of nursing
practice throughout the nursing program during my clinical rotations. I had
several different clinical rotations that allo!ed me the opportunity to learn a
variety of medical issues that patients from all areas of lifespan !ill face. In the
nursing program !e !ere taught general nursing "no!ledge to prepare us for a
future career as a nurse.
#ithin this section$ I have added three documents !hich are from my third
semester of nursing school !hen I too" my first O% and Pediatrics course. &hey
are assessments that I completed on patients or families. &he first document
!as an O% assessment in !hich I completed on a pregnant mother regarding the
course of her pregnancy. &he net item !as a family assessment done on a
family that my family has been friends !ith for my !hole life. 'astly$ I added my
ne!born assessment that I obtained on my patient during my time on the
postpartum unit. &hrough the nursing program$ I have learned the basic
"no!ledge in caring for diverse patients !ith the help of emphasis on several
aspects of clinical rotation to fill in the gaps and incorporate "no!ledge of
specialty areas as !ell.
