Professionalism

Professionalism is part of Ferris State Universities School of Nursing

objectives in which a student should meet before exiting the program. From start
to finish I have gained a better knowledge of professionalism throughout the
nursing program. Professionalism is acting appropriate in the values ethics and
behaviors portra!ed during patient care in the nursing profession. "ithin this
section I have professional items that are used to validate m! development of
professionalism throughout the course of the nursing program.
#he first item I included is a certificate of attendance for attending the
professional da! that was held at Ferris State Universit! for health care students.
I put this certificate under professionalism because it represents a da! that was
focused on the professionalism and it improved m! professional relationships for
the future. #he second item I placed in this section is nursing research and
poster presentation certificate of attendance. #his is also a professional da! that
is held once !ear at Ferris State Universit!. It allows students from other cohorts
of nursing to bring a poster presentation of their Service $earning Project and
present it to others in hopes to gain other students interest in doing the same
thing for their service learning project. %! Service $earning group and I also
presented our Service $earning poster that I have listed in the theoretical section
at the professional da! as well. #he last item included in this section is m!
certificate of membership for being involved in the Ferris State Nurses
&ssociation. I was in the organi'ation for two !ears and I had to receive ten
communit! service hours per semester to be an active member. #he meetings
were held ever! two weeks where we discussed different communit! service
options events guest speakers fund raisers and educational tools. #herefore I
have had man! opportunities to build m! professionalism through different
activities in the nursing program.
