Deped pushes Mas Alegre na escuela for public schools

In connection with the Child Friendly Schools campaign of the Department of Education, the Zamboanga
City Division launches its Mas Alegre na Escuela for the school year 2013-2014.
Mas Alegre Na Escuela is this school years movement for schools to create a more conducive
environment for students to enjoy learning at school. The campaign is in connection with the Child
Friendly Schools System (CFSS) of the Department of education. This is one of the initiative of Schools
Division Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad.
The Division Office together with UNICEF conducted seminars last April on the Child
Friendly School System for all school principals/ heads for both elementary and
secondary schools . The seminar focused on how school head are able to make a
conducive environment for students and encourage the teachers to be more positive
and receptive with students.


DepEd Zambo prepares disaster through Brigada eskwela

In preparation for the opening of classes on June 2, Department of Education Zamboanga City Division is
pushing for disaster preparedness through its weeklong Brigada Eskwela campaign.
With the theme making our schools safer, Brigada Eskwela brings effort to improved classroom
standards, strengthen its coordination with partners for disaster response and capacity building as per
Dep Ed memorandum No. 32 s.2014. All schools in Zamboanga City division showed positive support to
the campaign.
The Zamboanga City Schools Division, headed by the Schools Division Superintendent, Pedro Melchor
Natividad encourages all schools both elementary and secondary to prioritize disaster preparedness
and mitigation measures to ensure the protection of the students, teachers including properties.
To operationalize the Brigada Eskwela 2014 theme and to guide the schools in their planning for the
entire school year, the DepEd developed the School Safety and Preparedness Guide where it hopes to
raise consciousness and provide guidance to schools and education partners in ensuring safety and
preparedness of the students and teachers during emergencies.
In support to the program of the department, the Zamboanga City Schools division initiated a
motorcade last Monday, May 19,2014 at 630 am where some schools both elementary and secondary
participated.
