How was a person convicted of being a witch?



1. You could be convicted of being a witch by
simply being a women.

2. You could be convicted of a witch by being
related to a suspect.

3. If you are an English Puritan Background you can
be convicted

4. If you married and have few or less children

5. If you are stubborn or gets fired up easily.

6. If you have been accused of other crimes like a
thief.

7. If you are in a low position social

8. If a witch confessed they might name other
people as witches as well.

9. If you read the lords prayer without error you
were convicted a witch.

10. If you did not confess to being a witch they
would torture you by dunking until she
confessed.

How are the witch trials conducted?

1. The victim would be tied up by there hands and
feet with a rock tied up against the victim. If the
victim drowns they were innocent, If they floated
they were guilty and would be executed.

2. The victim would be tied up and would be
continuously dunked until the victim confessed.

3. The victim would have to read out the lords
prayer and if they read it without an error they
would be convicted a witch.

4. Accuses say that they saw the victim doing
witchcraft in their dreams or doing the devils
bidding

5. Witness would say that they saw the victim
doing black magic and was enough to convince
everyone

What were the punishments to those who were found
guilty of being a witch?

If you were guilty of being a witch the victim would
be normally be burned or hung to death. There were
test for witches that ended in execution like swim
the witch where the victim was tied up and thrown
into the water. If the victim drowned they were
innocent if they floated they were guilty.
