Harvard Business School

The Harvard business school is renowned around the world for its excellence
in and dedication to the goal of creating business and world leaders.

The Campus:
Harvard Business School is not only a place to teach, but also a place that teaches.
With thirty-three buildings on forty acres nestled in a bend of the Charles River, this
vibrant community's every
aspect has been designed
to help students develop
skills and build
relationships that will last
a lifetime. Its spacious
facilities, remarkable
resources, intimate
courtyards, open lawns,
and tree-lined walkways
reinforce both the
individual concentration
and the group interaction
that are critical to the
transformational learning
experience that the School
provides. Founded in
1908, HBS was originally
located in Harvard Yard.
The present campus, with
its stately Georgian
buildings following the
gentle curve on the Boston
side of the Charles River, was dedicated in J une of 1927. The firm of Frederick Law
Olmsted, designers of New York's Central Park and Boston's "Emerald Necklace" system
of parks, designed the landscaping.
The learning experience extends far beyond the walls of our classrooms. The campus
abounds with places where students gather for projects, discussions, study groups, and
Tenaday MBA Information Centre (www.tenaday.co.in)
club activities. Along the
hallways of Aldrich, for
example, are meeting spaces
where small groups of
students perform the daily
ritual of preparing together
for upcoming case
discussions.

Student life:
At HBS, breakthrough moments can happen any time: in a late-night discussion among
peers, during a journey along India's east coast, in service to a neighborhood nonprofit
or simply while relaxing in a Spangler lounge or competing on the tennis court. While
formal education is concentrated within academics, the transformation of potential into
leadership is realized through every aspect of the HBS experience. To explore student life
here is to investigate multiple ways to learn, to connect, to lead.
Being prepared to lead means being prepared for a multilingual, multicultural and
international environment. J ust as leadership is nurtured in the HBS classroom, so too is
our collective engagement with a diverse world. We not only welcome, but embrace, a
student body enriched by individuals who reflect many nationalities, cultures, interests,
and points of view. Our sections are not merely representative of HBS as a whole, but of
the world at large; each Learning Team encourages individual contributions while
reinforcing our personal responsibility for the well-being of the larger community.
Residential Life
Walking through the Harvard Business School campus is an experience unlike any other.
This stately, elegant 40-acre campus of classic red-brick buildings, tree-lined walkways,
and open, grassy courtyards was dedicated in 1927, and is the only top business school in
the country with a residential, self-contained campus. The campus design serves to
strengthen the sense of community at the School, with the belief that the daily
interactions of residential life only increase the potential for learning.
