Physical Educaton and Nurtton Educaton Working Together to Reach Students in

Low-Income Michigan Schools and their Parents


Parent Engagement Acitvites
These acitvites are organized by school health leaders with
assistance from a Nutriton Educator. Actvites that engage
PE-Nut parents will provide school-wide educaton events
including students, sta, parents and the community.
School- Wide Nutriton/PA Messages
Principals will provide daily announcements, school newslaters,
and website tps on healthy eatng and staying actve.
Take- Home Acitvites
Classroom teachers will be provided a Take-home Book Bag for
students K-2 and 3-5, along with school-wide newsleters, books
available in the school library, and recipe booklets.
Physical Educaton with Nutriton Concepts
Physical Educaton teachers will teach using the Exemplary Phsyical
Educaton Curriculum (K-5) which includes nutriton concepts in
132 dierent lessons.
Serving low-income schools in Washtenaw County...
Classroom Instructon
Classroom instruciton will include teachings from Nutriton
Educators on Fit Bits (K-5), Healthy Classrooms, Healthy Schools,
and Health Through Literacy Book Sales . These
instructons will include 30 lessons per school on Healthy
Classrooms, Healthy Schools program, Health through Literacy
Book Sets and
Fit Bits.
