PSG: How to solve a Nonogram (a.k.

a Picross or Griddler)
The puzzle:
A nonogram is a puzzle consisting of a grid and numbers.
Each number represents a continuous group of numbers. For example, the 4 is one group
of continuous blocks. The 2 1 is a group of ___ blocks, at least _________, and a ___.

Steps to solve it:
1. Look at one line row/column at a time.
2. Lets start with the 4. The grid is only 5 long, so no matter whether the 4 starts at the top or starts from
the bottom, the middle 3 spaces will always be filled in.
3. Now, lets look at the rows next to it.
a. Row 1: has a 2 and a 1. This means, the next space should be filled in/empty. (circle one)
b. Row 2: has a 2, this means the next space should be ___________.
i. Additionally, ____ more blocks can fit in this row.
c. Row 3: has a 1 1, this means the next dot should be empty.
i. We do/do not know where the other 1 block goes.
d. Row 4: has a 1 2, meaning the next dot should be ____________.
i. We do/do not know where the other 2 blocks go.
e. Row 5: has a 2, this means the next dot should be ____________.
i. Additionally, _____________ blocks can fit in this row.
4. Place a small dot ( . ) anywhere you know there should be a space.
5. From here lets find the remaining spaces until we complete the puzzle and make sure all the rules are
true.
This nono-gram was only a fairly basic one! When youve finished ask for some more, SOME even make pictures!
