Module 1: Activity 1

Social Experiment
In this activity, you will create a social experiment that will move people to be
compassionate and widen our perspective on how we see the world and reect
on our attitude towards other people.
Videos depicting a glimpse of how our society reacts on certain situations have
been shared countless times in di!erent social media. Most, if not all of them
have a!ected peoples way of thinking in many di!erent ways. Social
Experiment as they are called is a research project conducted with human
subjects in the real world that typically investigates the reaction of people to a
controlled situation.
Here are some examples:

Do you still remember the last viral or social experiment video that youve
watched?
Did you put yourself in the shoes of the participants in the video?
Have you experienced being helped by others?
How did you feel?
Have you experienced being neglected when you needed help the most?
Do you still remember the feeling of being neglected?
Having been inspired by these videos, create your own Social Experiment that
will be worthy of sharing and will move people to be compassionate and raise
awareness of di!erent social issues and values. Follow the guidelines below in
creating the said video: (Group Activity)
1. The video should last a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 minutes.
2. The sample videos that are provided are not meant to be imitated. They
are mere examples from which you can get inspirations from. You can
create a similar but not the same video.
3. The outcome of the video should not be scripted nor reenacted but
should be a REAL social experiment.
4. Download the waiver provided. This is for the people specically
strangers that will be included in your video. Have them sign the waiver
after explaining to them the purpose of this activity. If you cannot make
them agree to sign the waiver, do not force any one to sign. If they do not
wish to sign the waiver, you can edit and blur to protect the identity of the
person. (Specially if they neglected, didnt help or the result of their
actions are negative).
5. Include a short explanation of what the video is all about either at the start
or end of the video. Inclusion of credits or personal markings of any kind
are discouraged. Just place the credits in the description or comment box
in your Facebook or website.
6. The video should be posted on the Facebook Wall of the group leader
and on the wall of your sections Facebook account. The rest of the group
should share the said video on their respective FB walls and encourage
their friends to share it to create a chain of inspiration to others. Posts
should be made public for everyone.
7. The link of the video should be submitted to ELEAP. Links that are not
submitted to ELEAP will not be graded. Make sure the link that you will
submit is working properly. Only the group leader or any one of the
members that the group leader assigned should submit the link. The
names of the members who participated in the creation of the video
should be included in the comment box provided upon submission. Do
not hesitate not to include those who did not participate.
8. Reect and Enjoy the activity.
