PART-A (10X2=20)
1. List the assumption made while deriving the Bernoullis equation.
2. Mention any three applications of Bernoullis equation.
3. Differentiate between Laminar and Turbulent flow.
4. Explain the momentum principle.
5. Write the Darcys weisbach equation.
6. Write the Hagen Poiseullis equation.
7. What is the manometer? Give one example.
8. Write down advantages and disadvantages of using orifice meter over a
venturimeter.
9. How does turbulence affect the flow properties?
10. Distinguish between Eulerian and Lagrangian method of representing
fluid motion.
PART-B (3X10=30)
11. The water is flowing through a pipe having diameter 200mm and 100mm
at section 1 and 2.The rate of flow through pipe is 35 lit/s.The section 1is 2m
above datum and section 2 is 4m above datum. If the pressure at section 1 is
400KN/m2. Find the intensity of pressure at section 2.
12. Derive from the first principle the Eulers equation of motion for flow
along a stream line. Obtain Bernoullis equation from Eulers equation.
13. Derive the Darcy-Weisbach equation.
14. A horizontal venturimeter with inlet diameter 200mm and throat
diameter 100mm is employ to measure the flow of water. The readings of
the differential manometer connected to the inlet are 180mm of mercury. If
Cd=0.98.Determine the rate of flow.
