Professional experience in schools has reinforced to me that ha!e made the
ri"ht choice# primary$ ha!e al%ays %anted to &e a primary school physical
ed'cation teacher &'t the thin"s sa% and experienced on prac reinforced
that for me$ can split some of these o&ser!ations and experiences into the
'nits learnin" o'tcomes$ (hese o'tcomes are )nderstandin" the di!erse roles
and responsi&ilities of the classroom teacher# *ppreciation of the different
a&ilities and needs of st'dents and )nderstandin" the f'nctions of schoolin"
in *'stralian society$ Professional experience has sho%n me that ha!e
made the ri"ht decision in choosin" primary teachin"$
)nderstandin" the di!erse roles and responsi&ilities of the classroom teacher
and ho% classroom mana"ement can impact st'dents has reinforced to me
that primary teachin" %as the ri"ht choice$ "ot the opport'nity to %atch a
year one teacher and a physical ed'cation teacher$ (his sho%ed me that
classroom mana"ement has a &i" impact on st'dents learnin" and
demonstrated the teacher+s roles$ (he year one teacher %as friendly and
approacha&le &'t also firm %ith the class %hen needed and therefore the
st'dents %ere en"a"ed and on tas,$ (he physical ed'cation teacher ho%e!er
%as controllin" and tried to mana"e the st'dents 'sin" fear$ (his left st'dents
&ored# disli,in" sport and disli,in" him as a teacher$ (his reinforced to me
that %ish to &e a primary teacher as they ha!e a !ery important impact on
%hether st'dents li,e and p'rs'e %ith physical ed'cation in or o't of school$
(he next o'tcome is an appreciation of differin" a&ilities and needs of
st'dents$ &elie!e that primary physical ed'cation can &enefit st'dents of all
a&ilities and needs$ n the sport class %atched# one st'dent co'ld not r'n
&eca'se on an in-'ry$ nstead of them sittin" to the side# &ein" excl'ded and
not impro!in"# they still -oined in and simply had someone else to r'n for
them$ (his "a!e them to %or, on their catchin" and thro%in" s,ills and still
&e incl'ded$ (he physical ed'cation teacher appreciated the st'dents needs
and choose to &e a primary teacher for that reason$

Primary school teaches st'dents responsi&ility and sets them on their path of
life$ /hen %as in the primary school# all teachers ta'"ht st'dents little
lessons or ideas %ithin and &et%een lessons$ (he physical ed'cation teacher
made st'dents %ear &ri"ht# 'nflatterin" hats %hen they for"ot their o%n$ (he
st'dents did not li,e %earin" these hats and therefore learnt to &e responsi&le
for their o%n hats and a&o't &ein" s'n smart$ choose to &e a part of primary
schoolin" %hich teaches st'dents lessons# li,e responsi&ility# that %ill help
them o'tside of school and in *'stralian society$
choose to %or, in primary ed'cation$ (he roles and responsi&ilities of the
primary teacher ha!e a "reater impact on st'dents and are m'ch more
important$ Primary teachers cater for all a&ilities and needs to ,eep st'dents
en"a"ed and impro!in"$ Primary ed'cation also teaches a&o't &ein"
responsi&le and many other lessons st'dents %ill need to learn to f'nction in
*'stralian society$ Professional experience has reinforced to me that my
decision to &ecome a primary physical ed'cation teacher %as the ri"ht
choice for me$
