DEFINITION/S:
Text Information - A non fiction writing written with intention of informing the reader about a specific topic.
Text Media - is any media product we wish to examine.
Text - A text is understood to be a piece of written or spoken material in its primary form (as opposed to a
paraphrase or summary). A text is any stretch of language that can be understood in context.
CHARACTERISTICS:
● A text is effortful to comprehend.
● A text has its limitations too.
● Images can communicate everything at once.
FORMATS:
Documentary, News Article, Interviews, Advertisement, Images.
TYPES:
Brochures, Magazines, Textbooks and Instruction Manuals, News Paper Article, Encyclopedia.
SOURCES:
Books, Magazines, Newspaper, Articles.
ADVANTAGES:
Availability
▪︎ Printed materials are already available on a variety of topics and in many different formats.
Flexibility
▪︎ They are adjustable to many purposes and maybe used in any lighted environment.
Portability
▪︎ They’re easily transported to another place with out the aid of machine or electricity.
User-friendly
▪︎ Easy to use, no extra effort to search.
Economical
▪︎ Inexpensive to produce or purchase.
LIMITATION:
▪︎ It lacks the inherent expresiveness of speech.
▪︎ The strategic and emotive qualities and impact of speech are diminished on the page.
VALUE:

Typeface - Also called font, font type, or type.
- Refers to the representation or style of a text in the digital format.
Types;
Serif- connotes formality and readability in large amount of texts.
Ex: Times New Roman, Baskerville, Garamond.
Sans Serif - brings a clean or minimalist look to the text.
Ex: Arial, Tahoma, Verdana, Calibri.
Slab Serif - carries a solid or heavy look to text.
Ex: Rockwell, Playbill.
Script - draws much attention to itself because of its brush-like strokes.
Ex: Edwardian, Vladimir.
Decorative - caters to a wide variety of emotions or themes.
Ex. Chiller, Jokerman.
C. Design Principle and Elements
1. Emphasis

▪︎ Creates visual interest.

REFLECTION/REALIZATION/SYNTHESIS:
This assignment gives me more about text and how it help us in terms of media and information literacy. It is very essential in the
students like me to understand this text on how we can use it properly in making simple pages.
