Literacy: Key Focus /Skills
Reading:
Pupils will read and discuss novels. These
will be graded to suit reading levels.
Novels for this term will include:
Storm Clouds, Carrie’s War, Holes, Wild
At Heart, The Witches, Midnight for
Charlie Bone and A Dark and Stormy
Night.
The class novel will be The Rats of Nimh
Pupils will be encouraged to extend their
range of reading and develop their own
preferences.
Grammar and Punctuation:
Pupils will focus on : punctuating complex
sentences, changing nouns to pronouns,
extending sentences by adding adjectives
and adverbs, punctuating their creative
writing compositions correctly.
Comprehension:
Pupils will be encouraged to read and un-
derstand different types of text from
both fact and fiction ; historical accounts,
factual reports, poetry, cross-curricular
topic work, biographies, mystery stories.
