SOME NEW PROGRAMS AND NEW TIMES FOR SOME OLD FAVORITES

WETS-FM/HD will be adding some new program and changing the broadcast times for some other
programs. These changes will be reflected in the program grids, and will also be announced regularly on
the air for the next couple of weeks.
The changes will begin on Monday, September 8
th
, at 10 p.m., with the addition of Tech Nation, hosted
by Dr. Moira Gunn. Tech Nation is the sole national weekly radio program on the impact of technology,
and its weekly BioTech Nation segment enjoys the same status in the area of biotech issues. Dr. Gunn, a
former NASA engineer, is Professor and Director of the Business of Biotechnology Program, School of
Management, at the University of San Francisco. She is also a member of the External Advisory Council,
Global Policy Research Institute, at Purdue University, a member of the Advisory Board for the
Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University and a member of the Advisory Board for
the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University.
Dr. Gunn's weekly commentaries touch all aspects of our lives in these unpredictable times. The story of
building the BioTech Nation segment and the leading biotech issues facing us all in this arena is
described in Dr. Gunn's book "Welcome to BioTech Nation ... My Unexpected Odyssey into the Land of
Small Molecules, Lean Genes, and Big Ideas."
Her guests come from every walk of life: politicians and businesspeople, scientists and futurists,
novelists and educators, members of the media and more. In her words: "Everyone is essential.
Everyone is a piece of the puzzle." In over 2,000 in-depth interviews, Dr. Gunn has engaged with
recognizable people from every venue: From business leaders like Intel's Andy Grove to emergent tech
guru's like Google's Larry Page and Sergey Brin, from the old guard of science such as Linus Pauling and
Crick and Watson to our new generation of scientists like David Haussler and Jay Keasling.
To be sure, the tech story only begins with business and science. From Senator John McCain to Ralph
Nader, from the Motley Fools to Dilbert creator Scott Adams, from Alvin Toffler to Paul Krugman to
every one of the over 2,000 guests who have appeared on Tech Nation, the world is a complex and
interconnected place, and we have much to learn from each other.
Tech Nation will be heard Monday nights at 10 p.m. You can learn more about the program at

On Tuesday nights at 10 p.m., WETS will present You Bet Your Garden, formerly heard Saturdays at

saves plants across the nation every week on You Bet Your Garden a breezy, light-hearted, and
sometimes (OK frequently) wild and crazy island of highly accurate and family-safe gardening
information. See more at: http://whyy.org/cms/youbetyourgarden/about/#sthash.m7QDsBjP.dpuf.
A Way With Words will be heard on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. A Way with Words is an upbeat and

Great Musicians is an hour of outstanding music and conversation with and about the people who make
it.
BackStory will be heard Thursday nights at 10 p.m. BackStory brings historical perspective to the events
happening around us today. On each show, renowned U.S. historians Ed Ayers, Peter Onuf, and Brian
Balogh The American History Guys - tear a topic from the headlines and plumb its historical depths.
Over the course of the hour, they are joined by fellow historians, people in the news, and callers
interested in exploring the roots of whats going on today. Together, they drill down to colonial times
and earlier, revealing the connections (and disconnections) between past and present. With its
passionate, intelligent, and irreverent approach, BackStory is fun and essential listening no matter who
you are. You can learn more at http://backstoryradio.org/about/.
On Saturday mornings at 6:00 a.m., WETS will present New Letters on the Air, the half-hour radio

favorite passages, and inspire the listener's imagination. Hosted by Angela Elam, the show is part
interview and part performance as the featured guest reads from his or her work. This is not just for
