We use plural nouns to indicate more than one (person,

place, animal or thing.). To form plural nouns, we must


add (s, es, ies, ves and so on.) according to the following
cases:

Nouns ending in: o, ss, x, ch, sh and z.
Nouns ending in y
Nouns ending in fe or f
Other nouns
Exceptions










We must add es, when nouns end in ( o, ss, x, ch, sh or z.)
such as:


Tomato ___________tomatoes
Address ___________addresses
Box ______________boxes
Beach ____________beaches
Dish _____________dishes
Buzz _____________buzzes

Example:
My mother does not like tomatoes. Back
When nouns end in y (preceded of consonant), we must change y for i
and soon we add es so:


Fly __________________flies
Study ________________studies
Possibility _____________possibilities
Hability _______________habilities
Story_ ________________stories
City __________________cities

Example:
Children listen stories. Back
When nouns end in fe or f, we must change f for v and add s or es so:

Knife ________________knives
Leaf _________________leaves
Life _________________lives
Thef _________________thieves
Wife _________________wives

Example:
Thieves are bad people. Back
There are some nouns which we add only S such as:

Hat __________________hats
Table _________________tables
Book _________________books
Dog __________________dogs
Letter _________________letters
Chair _________________chairs

Example:
Martha has ten books. Back
There are a few nouns with an irregular plural, that is, their plural can not be
formed according to any rule, for that reason it is necessary to memorize
them. Some of them are:
