Writing: This week we discussed our journal collage and sent home a letter
explaining this activity. I hope it will be a fun time for you to celebrate your
child and the special people and moments in his/her life. We also wrote in
our journals and began Unit 1 in our WriteSteps curriculum on the 6 traits
of writing: Voice, Organization, Ideas, Conventions, Word Choice, Sentence
Fluency.
Reading: We have discussed what Reading to Self should look like and began
working on our Stamina. Next week we will begin our Reading Interactive
Notebook.
Math: We introduced Math Calendar time and began our first guided
worksheet and homework. Look for this on a daily basis.
Social Studies: We created our Class Social Contract and it is ready to go.
We also spent time on several activities that allowed us to get to know each
other. Ask your child to tell you about the Skittles, the Time Capsule, and
the First Day Quiz activities!!

your children with me!! It has been a joy getting to know them and I look forward to a
