CLASSIFY AND FIND MEASURES
OF ANGLES FORMED BY PARALLEL
LINES AND TRANSVERSALS (3.1)

A transversal is a line that intersects two or more lines at dierent

points. Lets draw an example of a transversal.

As you can see, several angles are formed, and many pairs of these
angles have special names.

Warm Up 2.3, Day 2

Draw two lines. Label one l and the other m. Draw a transversal and
label it t. Identify a pair of corresponding angles and number them
1 and 2.

Unit 2: Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

Target 2.3, Day 2

CLASSIFY AND FIND MEASURES
OF ANGLES FORMED BY PARALLEL
LINES AND TRANSVERSALS (3.2)

Yesterday, we looked at the angles formed when two lines are

intersected by a transversal. We will again be examining those
special angles, but today we will be looking specically at parallel
lines intersected by a transversal.
By knowing just one of the angles, we can nd the measure of all
the angles using some information we already know, along with
some new theorems well look at today.
Find the measures of Angles 2, 3, and 4.

reasoning.
