Eastenders: Social Realism codes and conventions

What are the key differences between this and Made in Chelsea?
The theme of the storyline in Eastenders is a mother and daughter
relationship where the daughter is trying to find any proof possible that
shes this womans daughter. Its much more serious than a scene out of
Made in Chelsea as this is a life changing event between family and is
nothing compared to your typical scenario in MiC involving someones
relationship status. Its much more emotional as there is quite a lot of
crying from the daughter as she just wants her mother to believe her and
the audience will sympathise with this character a lot more than they ever
would with a character out of MiC.
The lighting is always darer in every scene with !anielle in. This
connotes that she is currently in a dar place which she is trying to get out
of and at the start of the trailer there is a scene where half of her face is
slightly darer than her other side" a sign that the darness is spreading
across her as she is running out of time for her to fully convince #onnie"
what with $rchie wanting her gone. !anielle is wearing quite innocent
colours lie white and yellow throughout the trailer with her hair quite
short with something in her hair" to mae it clear that she is just an
innocent young girl after her mother. $rchie is always seen wearing blac
as he is quite a dar person and is classed as being quite a dominant
figure in this situation whereas #onnies hair and mae%up is perfect to
mae her loo e&actly lie the dream mother that !anielle will have
dreamed of always wanting.
The locations are slightly different to MiC as its mainly always in the
same place" the 'ueen (ic pub in this situation" unlie MiC where its
always changing location. This is an e&ample of the characters in MiC
being of a higher class as they can afford to go to many different places.
)owever" its still similar in the fact that the characters arent bothered
where theyre having any confrontation e.g. #onnie pushing !anielle out
onto the street. Even though both programmes are set in *ondon" the
accents are still slightly different as theyre set in different parts of the
capital city. +hen in conversation" they always seem to rush all of their
words as they spea a lot more aggressively and dont tend to use as
many big words as those in MiC would. ,omeone in MiC probably
wouldnt say -.o away from me" you pathetic little frea as the right
wording probably would be to start the sentence with -.et which you
would e&pect someone from MiC to say. Therefore" it comes across as the
characters in Eastenders being of a lower class and status than those in
Made in Chelsea" possibly part of the reason just because its not set in
the centre of *ondon lie Chelsea.
