OBJECTIVES
The student should acquire knowledge about vitamins.

To understand the important of sources and the deficiency
symptoms of vitamin c.

To apply the acquired knowledge in his/her daily life.
FOOD
Food is necessary factor in our life.

In the absence of food our body will not function properly and
we will become prone to decrease.

The food intake must contain all the necessary nutrients
required by our body.

Food items like rice ,wheat,vegetables,fruits,meats,oils etc
provides base food nutrients for our body.

The base food factor includes proteins
carbohydrates,minerals,vitamins and water.

A diet which consists of all these elements in the correct
proportion and in adequate quality is called balanced diet.

VITAMINES
The word vitamin is derived from vital amines.

They are chemical compound which are necessary for growth
and proper functioning of body.

They are inclerpensible In great regulating the various
chemical changes in the body metabolism.

Therefore they play a major role in most of the
vitalprocess of the body.

All the vitamines have got which we intake different
types of food the impotant vitamin essential for our
body are vitamin A,vitamin B,vitamin C, vitamin
D,vitamin E,vitamin K

VITAMIN C
Vitamin c is an essential nutrient for humans and certain
other animal species.

It refers to a number of vitamers that have this activity
in animals,including ascorbic acid and it salts and some
oxidized forms of the molecules like dehydro ascorbic
acid.
DEFICIENCY OF VITAMIN C
SCURVY
It is an avitaminosis resulting from lack of vitamin c .

Since without this vitamin ,the synthesized collagen is too
unstable to perform its function .

Scurvy leads to the formation of brown spots on the skin ,spongy
gums and bleeding from all mucous membranes.
Stroke,cholesterol,Asthma,Vericos Vein, viral/bacterial
infection, vascular system,Allergies etc.
