LOOK WHATS
HAPPENING
Dear Families,
The students are on a
learning adventure. The next few
weeks, the students will be
swinging into the jungle. They
will read several short stories
and The Jungle Book by Rudyard
Kipling.
In Social Studies, the
students are studying geography
and will prepare for the real
world. It is critical that students
develop fundamental geographic
understanding about the world;
therefore, the students will be
participating in a variety of
hands on projects.

Jungles and rainforests
are similar, but while
rainforests have thick
canopies of tall trees
that block out light,
jungles allow more light
in, making it easier for
plants to grow.
Over half of the world's
species live in a jungle
environment.
The word jungle comes
from a Sanskrit word
meaning uncultivated
land
