Classroom Organisation:
Whole class teacher led lesson and students working in their small groups,
then share to whole class.

Resources:
Australian icon poster to be displayed on interactive white board.
Questions written up on white board.
o What does Australian mean, to you?
o What does being Australian mean?
o Who are Australians?
Do you need to be born in Australia, to be Australian?
Materials:
Large pieces of paper.
Felt pens.


Learning Experiences:
1. The teacher introduces the topic What is it to be Australian?
2. Allow students to think about this question. (3mins)
3. Place the Australian icon poster up on interactive white board, and tell
them that this is what I think when I think of Australian.
4. Talk about the pictures on the poster, as class discussion.
5. In groups students are then to make their own poster, using text or
visuals. To answer the guiding questions on the white board (more
questions can be added by students from class discussion).
6. Students can use iPads and laptops for finding information and
pictures.
7. Information is shared and collected as a whole class. These can then
be displayed around the classroom.
