TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Internship II March-April 2014

Nashwaaksis Middle School
Grade 6, 7 & 8 Health & Physical Education

I completed my second teaching internship at Nashwaaksis Middle School (NMS). I had the
opportunity to be mentored by Alex Yaychuk and Francine LeClerc. Both provided me with
valuable resources and guidance during my practicum. I taught a wide variety of games and
sports such as Gymnastics, Tchoukball, Track & Field, and Skateboarding. I taught upwards to
sixty students in a field house gymnasium. Teaching in such a large space presented unique
opportunities and challenges. In addition to my regular teaching responsibilities, I also
coordinated the Tchoukball intramural league and supervised the after school dance.

Internship I November-December /2013

Oromocto High School
Grade 9 & 10 Health & Physical Education
Grade 11/12 Wellness


I completed my first teaching internship at Oromocto High School (OHS). I was privileged to
have Mr. Robin Buchanan as my co-operating teacher. Mr. Buchanan is a passionate,
experienced, and well-respected Health & Physical Education teacher in New Brunswick. While
at OHS, I taught three periods of grade 9 & 10 Health & Physical Education and one period of
grade 11& 12 Wellness. For two periods, I taught upwards to 60 students either alone or with a
team teacher. My units of focus were weight training, international games, and volleyball. I was
required to differentiate my Physical Education and Wellness lessons for students with
exceptionalities. The Grade 11 & 12 Wellness class proved to be the most challenging and
rewarding to teach. I gained valuable classroom experience teaching the Nutrition unit.
