Dear Mrs. Cairns,
It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my resume in consideration for the Grades 3-5 Physical Education and Art
teaching position at the Cove Elementary School. In addition to acquiring a Bachelor in Recreation and Sport
Studies Degree with a major in Physical Education and minor in Biology, I will soon graduate with a Bachelor of
Education Degree in July 2014. As a highly dedicated, compassionate, and encouraging teaching professional, I am
confident in my ability to become a valuable member of your teaching staff.
My background as a Physical Education and Health specialist is one of my varied assets. Throughout the years I
have applied myself to improving the lives of others by coaching, instructing and mentoring students in physical
activity and healthy active living. During my most recent internship teaching Physical Education to a varied group
of middle school students, I developed the skills needed to team-teach in the gymnasium with a significant amount
of students at one time. Assisting in developing and participating in a Running Club, heading the schools Wellness
Committee, coaching volleyball, and volunteering at various school events are some of the activities I contributed to
during my second placement. During my first internship at the High School level I acquired the subject-area
knowledge required to successfully teach Physical Education and Wellness. I contributed to the school community
by volunteering at a significant amount of extra-curricular activities and events, was a Teacher Buddy with Best
Buddies, and head coach of the Track and Field Team.
Delivering quality Health and Physical Education to my students is my true passion and top priority. I have
meaningful intention to positively impact the lives of the students I work with.
