HELIDECK STUDY AND REFURBISHMENT
FOR OPERATION OF AW 139
HELICOPTERS


Introduction:
Bunduq Co. intends to get certified their helidecks
on LQP and Wellhead Platforms for the operation of
AW 139 (Augusta Westland) Helicopters.
In order to proceed to Certification, structural
integrity of the existing Helideck Support Structures
shall be investigated against operating and extreme
loadings associated with the operation of AW139
Helicopter in accordance with applicable
international codes/standards, including CAP 437.
Any strengthening/ modifications required for the
intended purpose shall also be designed.
The platforms included in Atkins scope are:
1) LQP in Bunduq Offshore Complex
2) Wellhead Platforms WHP-A, B, C, D, E & F
3) Wellhead Platforms EB-01, EB-04 to EB-10
Existing Steel Helideck in LQP shall be refurbished
to suit the new requirements.







Two Options investigated for existing Timber
Helidecks on Wellhead Platforms:
1) Remove the Timber Planks, refurbish the
support structure and replace the deck with new
timber planks.
2) Remove the Timber Planks, refurbish the
support structure and replace the deck with New
Aluminium Helideck.
Considering the long term advantages, Company
has decided to proceed with New Aluminium
Helideck option.








Structural scope for each Pl atform/ Helideck
included the following:
Collection and review of all relevant information
related to Structure, Helicopter, Aluminium
Helideck Vender Data.
Modelling & Structural In-place Analysis of the
existing Deck Structure supporting the Helideck.
Design of Strengthening/ modifications required
for the support structure.
Preparation of Structural Drawings for demolition
and strengthening/ modifications.
Liaise with Third Party Certification Agency for
Structural Integrity verification and approval of
Engineering work.
