The centuries-old history of golf
makes it a very distinctive sport.
While the game has evolved,
some of its great traditions have
lasted throughout time and
continue today.
A tradition truly unlike any
other is the Hackers
Championship which will be
played out this weekend in
scenic Berlin, Maryland. Just like
last years outing, the North will
once again face off against the
South in a matchup no television
station dares to carry.

Vegas Odds
Team South carries the top 3
golfers in Steve Kulawiak, Rob
Bruno, and Milt Gianulis which
makes them heavy favorites this
year for the team competition.
While the Jim Beam Whiskey Jug
has not taken a trip South of the
Mason-Dixon line, Vegas
oddsmakers seem to think 2014
is the year that changes. Here
are the official 2014 Hackers
odds courtesy of John Avello,
manager of the Wynn Sports
Book.
Steve Kulawiak -575
Robert Bruno -250
Milt Gianulis -250
Phil Bruno +150
Ed Kulawiak +200
Rick Bruno +475
Tony Busacca +650
Mark Becker +700
Heavy money has been coming in
on members of the South team
with favorite Steve Kulawiak
receiving the most amount of
betting action of any of the
participants. Vegas is intrigued
by newcomer Rick Bruno as he is
receiving a lot of the value bet
attention. Rick is replacing
defending 8-iron champion Mike
Sullivan who is on the 60 day DL
with what his trainer is calling an
upper body injury. The most
intriguing prop bet available this

year is the broken club

over/under bet. As in past
years, Vegas is setting the odds
at over/under .5 clubs broken
during the tournament. The
over is getting most of the action
now dropping the over to a -185
and the under is holding steady
at +200.

News & Notes

Sources close to the

Hackers Championship
indicate that Team South
is planning on a practice
round Friday in advance
of the opening round at
Rum Pointe on Saturday.
Jim Cantore of the
Weather Channel is
reporting that the
likelihood of another
monsoon at Rum Pointe is
doubtful.
Reports of the maids
requesting a raise from
PAMS after the 2013
Hackers Championship
are patently untrue.
They did ask that baked
beans not be permitted
on the property and that
request was denied.
The Hackers motto Bring
your Balls was seen
trending on twitter for 3
minutes this past
weekend.
