Our Preliminary task!

Techniques used
Shot/reverse shot
This helps to create a more dynamic conversation
allowing the viewer to feel immersed with the film and
seeing the conversation from both characters
perspectives, in our film we did over the shoulder shots
rather than shots of just one person, you will see an
example of this in the next slide.

Shot/reverse shot
You can see that once one person stops speaking, it
transfers to the other person to create a sense of
continuity and to immerse the viewer into the scene.
Techniques used
Match on action
The purpose of match on action is to create a sense of
continuity and involves multiple shots of the same
action, it is useful as you can continue the scene while a
person moves between rooms or different parts of the
room, and also gives the viewer a good perspective of the
location and what is going on.
Match on action
As Lucy moves from the hallway to the room to shot changes
but stays fluent and in time with her movement, giving the
illusion that it was shot from two cameras perhaps, it gives a
sense of continuity and allows the viewer to feel as if they are
entering the room with Lucy.
Techniques used
180 degree rule
This is a rule or technique which means that the camera
cannot pass a certain line, thus the name 180 degree
rule, if the camera were to pass this imaginary line, the
viewer could become confused as to what the setting is
and also the position the characters are in, it would also
ruin the fluent nature of the film and cause the viewer to
have to stop and think, stopping them from becoming
immersed with the film.
180 degree rule
This is a rule or technique which essentially means the
camera does not go past a certain line; this is so the
viewer does not get confused about the orientation or
setting of the film.
Overcome obstacles
We overcame obstacles such as continuity errors which were
solved by re-filming certain sections of the task.
Another obstacle was the slap, which obviously couldnt be
too hard, and therefore didnt sound very realistic, to solve
this we resorted to using an external recording device to
record a new slap sound by clapping; this sound was better
and places on top of the exact section in the clip.
We also had to cut very precisely in some places as a character
would smile or laugh, so we used Premiere Pro (editing
software) in order to fix this.
